I grew up in the therapy world. My father is a psychologist. I watched him spend decades helping children and families navigate the gap between who a child is and who the systems around them assumed they should be. Schools measured compliance. Tutors measured grades. Nobody measured the child.
I was one of those children. A kid with enormous energy, relentless curiosity, and a mind that moved sideways. The systems weren't built for me. They tried to make a lion deep sea fish. It didn't work. But my father understood what they didn't: the issue was never the child. It was the system.
